The willows in question are in a wild area of Poland, and this series is based on a couple of photographs I came across on the web in 2008. The red bark was truly beautiful. From this base I worked on a series of sketches and studio paintings , exploring various compositions, lighting conditions and painting techniques. The six paintings shown here are the result.
