En Plein Air

The French term 'en plein air' means to paint outdoors. To paint directly in front of a scene presents some challenges. But this also has many advantages such as gaining a real understanding of the scene, limiting the time available to paint it and producing a more immediate reflection of it. I have a number of pochade boxes to enable sketches from 5 by 7 inches to 12 by 18 inches.
