The county has a reputation for being flat, but my part of it is mainly rolling countryside with shallow valleys. The farmland has varied crops, some for grazing by sheep and cows. Being in the centre of England has its advantages, helped by the excellent road network. For a painter of coastal scenes, the main disadvantage is the minimum two hour drive to get to the coast.
